PROJECT TITLE
Production for Improved Nutrition Project Baseline Survey
To establish the current coverage and baseline values of project performance indicators that will enable the measurement of project performance and impact over time.
1. To establish the proportion of farmers that are applying new technologies.
2. To establish levels of household food security.
3. To establish gross margin per unit of land of selected products.
4. To establish levels of household incomes.
5. To establish the proportion of households of small-scale farmers with a ready market for their agricultural produce.
6. To establish the existing trade linkages between Area Cooperative Enterprises and other private sector entities.
7. To document the existence and adequacy of interventions for improved livelihoods.
The baseline adopted a cross-sectional design and utilized both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The sample of farmer households included both intervention and control groups. The intervention or project study group consisted of communities where the project interventions were to be implemented. The control group, on the other hand, consisted of communities that would not benefit from the project. Data from the control group would be used in future to compare project results in terms of the differences between the project-supported and non-supported communities or households.
