Our approach

The standard approach to our work is phased/sequential. All our projects follow through three essential steps in order to provide services that meet the highest quality standards and client satisfaction.

Inception/Initiation

This commences after contract award. During this phase, we aim to achieve proper understanding of the client’s needs and expectations. It involves among other things: agreeing on the methodology including refining the research questions/objectives, sample size, study areas, identifying the key stakeholders as well as refining the timelines and associated deliverables. The core team for the implementation of the project is also in place.

Implementation

This is a very hands-on stage and builds on the success of the inception phase including review of the background documents. It involves recruitment, training, deployment and supervision of research assistants to ensure that all deliverables and the project as a whole adhere to quality standards and ethical guidelines. SEDC ensures that appropriate and adequate financial, human, technological, infrastructure and other resources to implement the project within the agreed timelines are committed.

Monitoring and Control

This is not a standalone phase, but rather a crosscutting issue that sieves through all other phases right from inception. SEDC under the guidance of the Team Leader holds routine internal coordination meetings to review implementation progress and ensure that individual team members are performing their assigned tasks within the agreed timelines. SEDC also maintains routine external communication with the Client regarding the accomplishment of key project milestones/deliverables so that any challenges and are identified and resolved in a timely manner.

Closure

This phase is marked by the successful completion of all project deliverables as specified in the contract. Both SEDC and the Client agree that the intended objectives of the project have been achieved. This phase provides the project team an opportunity to evaluate their work and document any lessons that may help to improve the implementation of similar or related projects in the future. Upon the successful implementation of the project, SEDC is issued with a certificate of Completion.
